Dear subscribers: Happy GDPR Day!

As of today, May 25th 2018, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation or short GDPR is fully in force (read more). What this means, briefly, is that your privacy is protected better than ever before.

Here at Win10.Guru, we had to make numerous changes to comply with GDPR. First, we had to remove our subscribers’ information from our database. Second, we had to change the subscription system. This will be the last post that appears in your email inbox if you haven’t already renewed your subscription on or after May 14th, 2018. All subscribers who signed up before that date will be removed from our database after this post is published.

Should you wish to continue your subscription, you must renew it using the GDPR-compliant Subscribe plugin shown on on the right sidebar on every page here at Win10.Guru. To meet GDPR requirements for such things, you will be sent a consent email with a confirmation link. Your subscription will only start or resume when you provide an explicit confirmation (also known as an “opt-in message”).

Apart from subscriber names and email addresses, we here at Win10.Guru collect no personal data from our readers if you decline to let us store cookies. For statistical reasons we do collect the following information if you decide to accept our cookies:

  • Referral URL
  • Our pages you visit and time spent per page
  • Operating system on user device
  • Browser
  • Country (geolocation)
  • Hash based on your IPv4 or IPv6 network address

Please note: by itself, none of this information can be used to identify you. It can’t even reveal your location in any more detail than your country of origin (based on IP address). Our provider masks all IP addresses, and assigns them a hash value which can only be used to tell us if you are a returning visitor or a new one, and for (broad) geolocation.

Hopefully you decide to continue your subscription by renewing it! We look forward to serving your Windows 10 information needs in this brave new world of GDPR. Thanks!

According to news, panic in Serbia, as per usual everybody, specially government are not really ready, Ombudsman is having fits with it. I can also see that many sites are updating their terms too, practically every site I opened last week or so has update warnings.
Saw in news that MS is promising same treatment in whole world.

Seeing the same panic here in Germany. I can understand it to some extent, although in all honesty GDPR is not rocket science.

Here in my adopted home country, my home town even set up a new office to control that local companies from mom & pop shops to local offices of multinational companies will comply.
